Poppies for my dad

Well, really enjoyed this mornings Clarity show on Create & Craft.  This little piece of artwork will be for my dad, for Fathers Day.  He loves poppies...

I made a messy background spritzing Distress inks and stains, then brushed some colour through the dotty wave stencil and stamped the frayed burlap from the journaling set.  This has to be one of my favourite stamps for adding texture.

Then I coloured my embossing paste and smeared it through the stencil.  While it was still wet, I sprinkled on mica powder and some gilding flakes.

In this detail, you can see how once it was dry, I replaced the stencil and added more definition with ink.

This detail shows how I also used the sprig form the journaling set faintly in the background.  "Ink, blot, blot, plot!"

I then just trimmed the artwork to fit this very simple frame from Ikea.  I have to say I'm quite amazed at how it is transformed by just putting it in a frame.  And it was so quick to make.  I hope you like it.  Please take time to let me know what you think.  Till next time.  Xxx
